Concrete Mixers for Sale

Concrete mixers for sale

When anyone starts to look at concrete mixers for sale they often start off by looking at the biggest one they can find. I can understand that, I mean who would not be excited to drive a concrete truck around the neighbourhood. The problem is that most of us do not need to mix concrete every day and we do not need to mix 10 cubic yards at a time.

No matter whether you are thinking about getting a electric concrete mixer or a used concrete mixer you need to get the one that best fills your needs. The chances are that you started thinking about concrete mixers for sale because you had a specific job in mind. I can guarantee that once you have your own cement mixer you will find many more jobs to do with it.

If the job you are doing is really going to be a one off thing then consider concrete mixer rental, you won’t save a lot of money over buying one (especially if you need it for two days) but you will not have to store it. You just use the concrete mixer that you have hired, clean it and return it. If you only need to mix one bag and then never do it again you can buy hand held concrete mixers which will do that job perfectly well.

How Big A Job Is It?
Concrete mixers and cement mixers are interchangeable, you can use the same mixer to mix mortar in so you can lay the block wall round the garden and then you can mix cement in it to fill the blocks in. I even know people who use their mixer for making their own garden fertilizer mix.

If you are only intending to build a small path and you do not mind if it takes you a few days then a 1.5 cubic foot electric concrete mixer would do the job but if you are laying a patio or will be doing more jobs you should really look at at least a 3 cubic foot mixer. The price difference between a 3 cubic ft and 5 cubic ft mixer is not huge and the time it can save you may be worth it.

The reason why most people look at concrete mixers for sale is because they do not want to mix all the concrete by hand. It is hard work and takes a lot of time as you can only mix one bag at a time. Similar questions come up when you are trying to decide what size of mixer to buy. If you buy the smallest model then you will be able to mix one 80lb bag of concrete and while that may seem like a lot it reall will not go far.

With the smallest size mixer you will be continually having to open up new bags and put them into the mixer, this all reduces the speed with which the work gets done. If you buy a concrete mixer that holds 3 or 5 cubic ft you will be able to fill it with 5 or more bags of ready mix concrete at a time.

New or Used Concrete Mixer
If you are buying a electric concrete mixer and can run it for some time before agreeing to buy it then you may be ok. You must ask yourself how much use the mixer has had. If they have used it for extensive periods of time then there is a good chance that the motor and bearings have had some serious wear and tear. I can think of nothing worse than getting half way through a job and hearing the mixer suddenly stop working.

If you can afford it then I would always look at new concrete mixers for sale, you want the reliability and there is a good chance that you will find plenty of uses for it once you own your own mixer.
